Brian Kates, ACE invites you to a Los Angeles Editing Masterclass for SABBATH QUEEN
In celebration of the theatrical release of SABBATH QUEEN, Director Sandi DuBowski (Trembling Before G-d), Writer/Editors Francisco Bello ACE & Jeremy Stulberg ACE, and Editor Kyle Crichton and moderator Kristin Feeley (Sundance Institute) are thrilled to present a free, intimate Masterclass to discuss the creative editing process of crafting a longitudinal documentary two decades in the making.

SABBATH QUEEN, shot over 21 years and edited from nearly 3000 hours of original and archival footage, follows Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie's epic journey to radically reinvent religion, challenge patriarchy and supremacy, champion interfaith love and stand up for peace in a difficult and rapidly changing 21st century.

There are screenings before the Masterclass at the Laemmle Royal between December 5th-7th, including some with Q&A’s with the filmmaker, protagonists & special guests. After the masterclass there will be screenings at the Laemmle Royal, Encino, Glendale, and North Hollywood Theaters from December 9th-12th, including some with Q&A’s.

Kristin Feeley is the Director of Documentary Film and Artist Programs at the Sundance Institute. She has worked in artist development at the Sundance Institute for over fifteen years, supporting the careers of directors, editors and producers. She launched the Documentary Producers Lab and Fellowship, created the Art of Editing Fellowship and the Nonfiction Critics Fellowship.

Francisco Bello, ACE is an Oscar®-Nominated and Emmy®-winning filmmaker, writer and editor. Credits include SALIM BABA (Best Short Documentary Oscar and Emmy Nominee), WAR DON DON, (SXSW Special Jury Prize, two Emmy nominations), MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND (SXSW Narrative Grand Jury), and the triple Emmy-winning THE FIRST WAVE.
Jeremy Stulberg, ACE, is a Sundance Documentary Fellow, and a filmmaker and editor with over 20 years of experience who is known for acclaimed works like GROWING UP COY (Netflix), WOMAN WITH GLORIA STEINEM (Vice), and THE EDUCATION OF SHELBY KNOX (PBS/POV). Additional highlights include Emmy-winning series VICE (Showtime), Elegance Bratton’s upcoming “MOVE YA BODY:THE BIRTH OF HOUSE”, and the queer cult comedy classic ANOTHER GAY MOVIE.
Kyle Crichton is an Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker, editor, and post-production supervisor. He edited the Emmy-winning ANGEL DOSE, featured at Telluride’s Mountain Film and aired on WHYY PBS, and has worked on projects like THE LAST OUT, GERALD R. FORD: A TEST OF CHARACTER, and UNSCHOOLED.
